Lake Worth Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Distributing Fentanyl and Oxycodone Resulting in a Minor's Death

A Lake Worth, Florida, man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl and oxycodone to a minor, resulting in the minor's fatal overdose, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida announced. Roberto Andres-Tomas, 26, pleaded guilty to distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death, and U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks imposed the sentence.

According to court records, on December 12, 2025, Andres-Tomas communicated with the minor victim by text message and arranged to provide narcotics in exchange for a sexual act. He traveled to the victim's residence in West Palm Beach and met with her that evening; text messages, GPS-related evidence, surveillance footage, and DNA evidence corroborated the encounter. The following day, the minor victim was found deceased from an apparent overdose. Laboratory testing confirmed that narcotics recovered near the victim contained fentanyl, and the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner determined that the victim died from acute fentanyl and oxycodone intoxication. The minor victim is not identified.

"A young girl lost her life because Roberto Andres-Tomas supplied her with deadly drugs in exchange for a sexual act," said U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida, adding that the 25-year sentence sends a clear message to those who prey on children and fuel the fentanyl crisis. The Drug Enforcement Administration's Miami Field Division and West Palm Beach District Office and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Huyler prosecuted it.
