Renton Man Sentenced to 50 Months in Prison for Selling Fentanyl and Methamphetamine at a Bellingham Encampment in Washington

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington announced that Davon Malbrough, 40, of Renton, Washington, was sentenced on October 26, 2026, in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 50 months in prison for drug trafficking. Malbrough was identified as a member of the "Family Mafia Crips," a criminal gang profiting from the distribution of controlled substances and sex trafficking, with ties to unlawful firearm possession and violent crimes.
Acting U.S. Attorney Charles Neil Floyd announced the sentence. At the sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Kymberly K. Evanson said, "This is a very serious offense. The defendant distributed highly addictive drugs to highly addicted people."
According to court records, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) began investigating the gang's drug and sex trafficking in 2023. On several days in July 2023, Malbrough was spotted at a transient encampment in Bellingham known as a hotbed of drug use, and on three occasions he sold fentanyl powder and pills to a person working with law enforcement. In December 2023, a traffic stop of his Jaguar SUV yielded 10 grams of pure methamphetamine, 3.5 grams of fentanyl pills, 12.6 grams of fentanyl powder, two drug scales, and $1,250 in drug proceeds.
Malbrough was indicted in October 2025 on charges of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute and two counts of distribution, and pleaded guilty in June 2026 to possession with intent to distribute. In seeking a 63-month sentence, prosecutors noted that he had been released from prison in late 2018 after serving a nearly 150-month sentence for first-degree assault, that his supervised release ended on October 18, 2022, and that less than a year later he was selling fentanyl at a homeless encampment and trafficking women for profit, showing a heightened risk to community safety.
The DEA and HSI investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Zachary Dilon and Kate Crisham.
