Seven Men Arrested in Lake Elsinore, California Sex-Trafficking Crackdown, Sheriff's Office Says
Riverside County, California: A law enforcement crackdown on suspects seeking illicit sexual services around Lake Elsinore netted seven arrests last week, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office announced on October 27.
Deputies from the Lake Elsinore station, together with personnel from the county's Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, targeted individuals looking to pick up prostitutes at unspecified locations throughout the city, the agency said. Those arrested were Victor Divas Cruz, 43, of Wildomar; Rafael Espinoza, 20, of Perris; Daniel Felix, 22, of Lake Elsinore; Erasmo Morales, 34, of Menifee; Fernando Orozco, 43, of Corona; Abraham Reyes, 25, of Perris; and Duston Schafer, 37, of Perris. They were generally booked on suspicion of solicitation of prostitution, received misdemeanor citations to appear in court on a future date, and were released.
"Prostitution is not a victimless crime," Sheriff's Sgt. Jarrod Meissen said, noting that sex trafficking victims are often subjected to severe emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Anyone aware of areas where prostitution may be a problem was asked to contact the Lake Elsinore station at 951-245-3300.
