China Chunlai Education Completes US$127.5 Million Acquisition of Dublin Business School, Ireland's Largest Independent College

Dublin Business School (DBS), Ireland's largest independent higher education institution, has changed hands: China Chunlai Education Group (1969.HK) announced on October 27 that it has completed its acquisition of the college from Kaplan for US$127.5 million, bringing Chinese education capital into Ireland's higher education sector.
According to the official Business Wire announcement, the completion notice has been filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Founded in 1975, DBS teaches about 9,000 students a year, draws students from more than 80 countries and partners with over 100 institutions worldwide.
Chunlai operates seven institutions in China's Henan, Hubei and Jiangsu provinces, with 116,784 students enrolled as of February 28, 2026 and half-year revenue of RMB 956.3 million. The Dublin deal is a major step in the group's European expansion.
For Chinese families and students in Ireland, the takeover of the country's largest independent college by a Chinese education group is worth watching for changes in programmes, international student services and China-Ireland education exchanges.
