According to the Justice Department, Raheem is accused of taking part in a scheme that used stolen identities to file fraudulent tax returns and claim federal refunds, with the alleged fraud totaling about $100 million. He was turned over to U.S. authorities in Benin and transported to the United States, where he will appear in federal court.

The Justice Department emphasized that the charges in an indictment are merely allegations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Further proceedings will be scheduled by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
