Follow-Up: 18 Firearms Seized, Including Three Ghost Guns, in Latest Week of Operation Consequences in San Bernardino County
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported on October 27 that its targeted crime-suppression effort, Operation Consequences, seized 18 firearms — including three untraceable 'ghost guns' — and made five felony arrests during the week of October 19 to 25, as investigators served five search warrants across the county.
Detectives from the department's Gangs/Narcotics Division, working with deputies from patrol stations and partner agencies, contacted suspects throughout Colton, Yucaipa, Adelanto, Chino Hills, Redlands, San Bernardino, Hesperia, Chino and Victorville, including gang members and people prohibited from possessing firearms. The San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team also conducted proactive patrols in and around San Bernardino.
Operation Consequences is funded by the county Board of Supervisors and also involves the California Highway Patrol, the San Bernardino Police Department, the county Probation Department and Homeland Security Investigations. It targets violent crime, criminal street gangs and the illegal possession, manufacture and trafficking of firearms, and will continue over the next several months. GSM previously reported that during the week of October 12 to 18, the operation produced 82 arrests and 20 seized firearms.
