56th San Diego Bay Parade of Lights Sails December 13 and 20 at 5:30 p.m.: About 80 Decorated Boats, Free Shore Viewing

San Diego Bay in San Diego County, California, hosts the 56th annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights on Sunday evenings December 13 and 20, starting at 5:30 p.m.: about 80 boats decorated to this year's theme, Liberty Lights the Bay: Cheers to 250 Years!, sail from Shelter Island past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village and the pier at Chicano Park, finishing at the Coronado Ferry Landing. Shore viewing is free.
According to the organizer's schedule and route page, the parade is presented by the Port of San Diego and draws more than 100,000 spectators to the bayfront each year. The procession takes about an hour to pass any given point; announcer stations at the Maritime Museum and at Coronado Landing describe each boat as it passes. With heavy traffic and parking demand expected, the organizer encourages spectators to plan ahead or take the trolley.
The parade sails on December 13 and 20, 2026, starting at 5:30 p.m. each night. Venue: the San Diego Bay waterfront, from Shelter Island to the Coronado Ferry Landing. Cost: free shore viewing. Information is posted by the organizer at sdparadeoflights.org. This is a free event.
