The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa announced that Baylee Andrew Snyder, 29, of Davenport in Scott County, Iowa, was sentenced on October 27, 2026, to 340 months in federal prison, more than 28 years, for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking offense, and possessing a firearm as a felon. After completing his prison term, Snyder will serve a five-year term of supervised release; there is no parole in the federal system.

According to public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, in January 2025 Snyder was found in possession of approximately one pound of methamphetamine, a loaded revolver in his vehicle and a loaded pistol on his person. Snyder admitted that he purchased pound quantities of methamphetamine for distribution in Chicago and worked with others to distribute methamphetamine within the Southern District of Iowa.

A few months later, in May 2025, Snyder was arrested again while traveling from Chicago to Iowa with multiple pounds of methamphetamine, two loaded firearms and almost $2,000. The Justice Department said Snyder admitted he continued to work with others to distribute pound quantities of methamphetamine in the Southern District of Iowa while carrying multiple firearms for protection.

U.S. Attorney David C. Waterman announced the sentence, and the Bettendorf Police Department investigated the case. The Justice Department said the case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, its nationwide initiative bringing federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement and prosecutors together to combat violent crime, coordinated by U.S. Attorneys' offices in each of the 94 federal districts.
