Ohio's Marion Community Foundation Awards $646,000 in 2026 Community Grants to 36 Local Organizations

The Marion Community Foundation in Marion, Marion County, Ohio, announced in October that its board of directors has approved $646,000 in awards under its 2026 Community Grants program, funding 36 local organizations working in youth development, health and wellness, animal care, basic needs, the arts and the environment.
More than 100 applications were submitted, and a nine-member committee of community volunteers reviewed each one. 'The Community Grants program gives us an important opportunity to engage directly with the nonprofits working every day to address the needs of our community,' said program manager Kate McCleese. By purpose, 65 percent of the funding supports ongoing operations and 27 percent goes to capital improvements, including health care equipment and safety upgrades in local parks.
Funded projects include operations at the Heart of Ohio Homeless Shelter, the Marion Family YMCA's teen center, replacement commercial ovens for a Salvation Army kitchen that prepares more than 10,000 meals a year, a legal aid housing justice project, and home-delivered meals for older adults. Foundation President and CEO Julie Prettyman said the foundation's designated grants reached $665,000 in 2026 and its scholarship program topped $682,000.
