HealthCare.gov Open Enrollment for 2027 Coverage Starts November 1: Enroll by December 15 for January 1 Coverage, Window Runs to January 15, 2027

Dates published by HealthCare.gov, the federal health insurance Marketplace, show that Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027: in states that use the federal platform, residents can enroll in, renew or change Marketplace plans during the window, and those who enroll or change plans by December 15, 2026, and pay their first premium will have coverage starting January 1, 2027.
Missing December 15 does not end the chance for the year: plans picked between December 16 and January 15 start February 1, 2027, while after January 15 enrollment or plan changes generally require a Special Enrollment Period triggered by a qualifying life event such as losing other coverage, moving, getting married, or having or adopting a child. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has said the open enrollment dates for this season have not changed. Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) accept applications year-round, outside the open enrollment window.
States that run their own marketplaces set their own dates: California, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C., run through January 31, 2027, while Idaho opened on October 15 and closes December 15. Residents should follow their own state's marketplace dates, and update household and income information and compare premiums, provider networks and prescription coverage before enrolling.
