LOS ANGELES, Los Angeles County, California — The 'Ghostly and Ghastly Pueblo de Los Angeles' history walk took place on Wednesday, October 28, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m., with check-in from 5:45 p.m. outside the La Tienda bookshop at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, 501 North Main Street, in the Los Angeles Plaza Historic District.

Led by historian Shmuel Gonzales of Boyle Heights History Tours, the walk visits historic sites in the old pueblo, including the site of the Chinese Massacre of October 1871, when a mob entered the city's Chinese quarter and attacked, robbed and murdered Chinese residents — one of the darkest episodes in Los Angeles history. The route also passes the Pico House, the grand hotel built by Pío Pico, the last Mexican governor of California.

Organizers asked participants to arrive early, as check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. and the walk departs promptly at 6 p.m., and recommended taking Metro rail or buses to Union Station, about two blocks from the meeting point. The event is ticketed, with no cancellations or refunds.
