KYEC Subsidiary AeternZ Plans $1.3 Billion Fort Worth Testing Plant: 630 Jobs, Backed by NVIDIA's $1.1 Billion Capacity Prepayment

FORT WORTH, Tarrant County, Texas — The Fort Worth City Council took up a 10-year, $50 million tax abatement package on October 27 for AeternZ Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Taiwan's King Yuan Electronics (KYEC), which proposes a new semiconductor testing plant at 273 W. Everman Parkway.

The project involves $1.3 billion in spending — $1 billion in real property improvements and $300 million in business personal property — and is expected to create 630 new jobs with an average annual salary of $80,000. AeternZ has committed to spending 30% of real property improvements with local firms. Approval of the abatement is a key factor as the company weighs other North Texas and out-of-state sites.

On the demand side, NVIDIA recently announced an agreement to provide $1.1 billion in advance payments to reserve semiconductor testing capacity at AeternZ's new U.S. facilities, with future testing service charges gradually offsetting the advance. KYEC's board had separately authorized up to $1.4 billion for its U.S. expansion — a different figure from this project's $1.3 billion.
