After Utah Filed Criminal Charges Against Kalshi on Oct. 28, DraftKings and FanDuel Exit Utah Event Contracts in Chain Reaction

After Utah filed criminal charges on October 28 against prediction-market platform Kalshi and its founder, DraftKings and FanDuel successively pulled their event contracts from Utah. DraftKings said on October 29 that users located in Utah can no longer trade sports, novelty, political and certain other event contracts through DraftKings Predictions.
FanDuel followed, announcing that from 10 a.m. Eastern on October 30, Utah users cannot participate in its sports, political and novelty markets, while contracts already open will settle as expected. The chain reaction is the latest escalation in states' fight over whether event contracts amount to unlicensed gambling.
