Florida Man Brian Earl Glass Pleads Guilty to Felon-in-Possession Charge in Panama City: Sentencing Set for January 14, 2027, Faces Up to 15 Years

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida announced on October 27 that Brian Earl Glass, 37, of Panama City, Florida, has pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Sentencing is scheduled for January 14, 2027, at 11:00 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker in Tallahassee, and Glass faces enhanced penalties of up to 15 years in prison. U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin announced the plea.

According to court records, during an April 2026 search of a Panama City residence where Glass was located, he attempted to leave in his vehicle but was detained. Investigators had earlier observed a firearm inside the vehicle, and the firearm and ammunition were seized. During questioning, Glass admitted the firearm belonged to him. Records also show Glass had multiple prior felony convictions dating back to 2012, and was therefore legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

"The safety of our communities is not negotiable, and we will not yield our streets to dangerous criminals who brazenly violate our laws," Heekin said, adding that President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Todd Blanche have directed the Justice Department to commit its full might to ensuring no neighborhood is left behind in the pursuit of crime-free communities.

The case was jointly investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Bay County Sheriff's Office, the Panama City Beach Police Department and the Panama City Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric K. Mountin. It is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, the Justice Department's nationwide violent-crime initiative coordinated by U.S. Attorneys' offices.
