Lake Charles Man Sean Alexander Meeks Sentenced to 400 Months for Conspiracy to Distribute Child Pornography: Repeat Offender Ran Online Group

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana announced that Sean Alexander Meeks, 49, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James D. Cain Jr. to 400 months (33.4 years) in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute child pornography, followed by 15 years of supervised release. Meeks had pleaded guilty on May 20, 2026, and was sentenced on October 15, 2026.
"Federal criminal law rightly punishes recidivist child sex predators severely, and Judge Cain's 400-month sentence of Sean Meeks shows the consequences when these predators choose to continue engaging in this heinous criminal conduct," said U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Matt Wright said the sentence sends a clear message that those who exploit children will be identified, investigated and held accountable, and that the defendant's prior conviction and continued conduct demonstrate the serious threat posed by repeat offenders.
According to court documents, investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Texas identified Meeks as the administrator of an online messaging group where illegal child sexual content was being exchanged. Undercover detectives observed Meeks directing the group's activities, communicating with chatroom members and distributing illicit material, and law enforcement traced the account activity to Meeks in Lake Charles. After his arrest on April 17, 2025, a forensic analysis of his smartphone verified his connection to the group; the device contained 17 videos and two images depicting child sexual abuse that had appeared in the chat room. The investigation also uncovered Meeks's prior conviction for possession of child pornography in Vernon Parish in 2007.
The case was investigated by HSI, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Vermaelen. It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, under case number 2:25-cr-280.
