Red Lake Man Sentenced to 63 Months for Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Minnesota

Darwin Lee Lussier Jr., 37, of Red Lake, Minnesota, was sentenced on October 28 in St. Paul to 63 months in prison and 15 years of supervised release for one count of sexual abuse of a minor, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
Lussier previously pleaded guilty on March 24, 2026. According to court documents, from about December 2018 to about December 2019, he knowingly engaged in sexual contact with a minor who was between the ages of 12 and 13 at the time; during some of the abuse, the victim was entrusted to Lussier as a caregiver.
Chief U.S. District Judge Eric C. Tostrud imposed the sentence. Daniel N. Rosen, U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota, said the sentence holds the defendant accountable for his actions against a minor in his care and that protecting the children of Red Lake is his office's highest priority.
Christopher D. Dotson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Minneapolis Field Office, credited the victim's courage in coming forward and said the FBI and its tribal law enforcement partners will continue to bring justice to child victims. The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Grey.
