Iowa Man Jordan Mefferd Sentenced to 262 Months for Trafficking Methamphetamine: At Least Three Pounds Distributed, Four Firearms and $9,684 Seized

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa announced that Jordan Mefferd, 47, of Pocahontas, Iowa, was sentenced on October 27, 2026, in federal court to 262 months' imprisonment — nearly 22 years — for trafficking methamphetamine in the Webster County area, to be followed by ten years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. Mefferd pleaded guilty on June 15, 2026, to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, four counts of distributing methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, all in Webster County.
Evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings showed that from about July 2024 through September 2025, Mefferd conspired with others to distribute at least three pounds of methamphetamine in the Webster County area. In August and September 2025, agents using an informant made four controlled buys of methamphetamine from Mefferd, totaling more than 200 grams of pure methamphetamine. On September 23, 2025, officers executed a search warrant on Mefferd's person and residence and seized a small amount of methamphetamine, $9,684.51 in U.S. currency, four firearms, and various ammunition.
Mefferd is prohibited from possessing firearms because of previous felony convictions, including conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of lithium, third-or-subsequent-offense possession of a controlled substance, eluding, third-degree burglary, and escape from jail.
United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand imposed the sentence; the case file number is 25-3048. Mefferd remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Webster County Sheriff's Office, the Fort Dodge Police Department, the FBI, the Iowa State Patrol, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other agencies.
