Anti-ICE Protesters Block Brooklyn Bridge for About an Hour in New York: NYPD Confirms 14 Arrested, No Injuries

Wednesday, October 28, 2026 · Society · GSM News

About 30 protesters sat down on the roadway of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York around midday on October 28, blocking traffic to protest an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shooting earlier this month in the Marble Hill area of the Bronx. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to multiple news outlets that 14 people were taken into custody on or near the bridge, that no injuries were reported, and that the blocked lanes reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m. The charges were not immediately announced.

According to reports from the scene, the protesters entered the bridge roadway at about 12:30 p.m., wearing shirts reading 'Have you seen my neighbor?' and carrying signs such as 'Stop Shooting Us,' and demanded the release of a man who was shot by an ICE agent during an arrest operation earlier this month. The blockade lasted about an hour, severely delaying Manhattan-bound traffic, and some stranded drivers argued with the protesters. Police then removed the demonstrators one by one; at least one was carried away by officers.

The ICE shooting in Marble Hill, in which an agent wounded a man during an attempted arrest, has prompted several protests in New York this month. The NYPD said details of the charges against those arrested would be released later.
