Two Destin, Florida Men Indicted in Federal Court: Christopher Brossett and Brady Howard Face Seven Counts in Alleged Insurance Fraud Scheme, Trial Set for December 14

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida announced on October 28 that Christopher Jason Brossett, 45, and Brady Allen Howard, 59, both of Destin, Florida, have been indicted by a federal grand jury on seven counts that include conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Brossett was additionally indicted on two counts of money laundering. The U.S. Attorney's Office release did not disclose the amount of money involved in the alleged scheme or its specific mechanics. An indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury and is not evidence of guilt; both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at trial.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Brossett and Howard appeared in federal court for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Hope T. Cannon. A jury trial is scheduled for December 14, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. before District Court Judge M. Casey Rodgers. If convicted, each man faces up to 20 years in prison on the conspiracy and wire fraud counts, and Brossett faces up to 10 additional years on each money laundering count.
U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin announced the charges. The case was investigated by IRS Criminal Investigation and the Florida Department of Financial Services, Bureau of Insurance Fraud, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey M. Tharp.
