Vietnam Signs the Artemis Accords, Becoming the 78th Signatory Country

Wednesday, October 28, 2026 · World · GSM News

The U.S. Department of State announced on October 28 that Vietnam has signed the Artemis Accords, becoming the 78th country to join the accords. Vietnam's Minister of Science and Technology Vũ Hải Quân signed the accords in Ha Long during Vietnam International Digital Week, witnessed by U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Jennifer Wicks.

The Artemis Accords were established in 2020 by the United States and seven other nations during President Trump's first term. They set out a common set of principles for civil space exploration, covering peaceful use, transparency, interoperability, registration of space objects, and the sharing of scientific data. On the U.S. side, implementation is led by the Department of State and NASA.

Vietnam is the latest country to join the accords; earlier this month, Uzbekistan became the 77th signatory. The number of signatories has continued to grow in recent years, spanning spacefaring nations on every continent.
