Culture & Entertainment: The Frick's Siena: The Art of Bronze, 1450-1500 Shows Nearly 40 Works Through January 18, 2027

The Frick Collection in Manhattan, New York County, New York, is presenting Siena: The Art of Bronze, 1450-1500 at its home at 1 East 70th Street. The exhibition, the first devoted to Siena as a center of artistic excellence and technical innovation in Renaissance bronze sculpture, brings together nearly 40 works and runs from October 15, 2026, through January 18, 2027.
The works include statues, reliefs, candelabra, medals and a church bell by sculptors including Donatello, Vecchietta and Francesco di Giorgio, many of which have never been exhibited outside Tuscany, let alone in the United States. Lenders include institutions in Florence, Naples, London, Berlin, Dresden and Vienna. The show is presented in the museum's Ronald S. Lauder Exhibition Galleries.
The exhibition is organized by Giulio Dalvit, the Frick's associate curator, who authored the accompanying catalogue with an international team of contributors. Dalvit has said that between 1450 and 1500, almost nowhere in Italy did local artistic traditions rely so heavily on a single medium as Siena's did on bronze, while the Tuscan city has been celebrated chiefly for its paintings.
