FDA Adds New Salmonella Javiana Outbreak Investigation: 59 Cases Reported in Ref #1424, Product Not Yet Identified

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · Life · GSM News

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) added a new foodborne illness outbreak to its investigation table on October 28: the Salmonella Javiana outbreak, listed as reference #1424, has 59 reported cases, the food product linked to the illnesses has not yet been identified, and the investigation is active and ongoing.

According to the FDA table, no recall has been initiated for this outbreak so far. FDA says the investigations on the table are primarily managed by its CORE Response Teams and are in a variety of stages, meaning some have limited information while others may be near completion.

FDA advises people who think they have symptoms of foodborne illness to talk to their healthcare provider and public health officials and provide details of what they ate before becoming sick, which often aids in solving emerging or ongoing outbreaks. A public health advisory is issued for investigations that result in specific, actionable steps for consumers.
