Washington Chinatown Funk Express Halloween Edition Set for October 30 With All-Night Asian Dance Records

Washington's Chinatown Funk Express returns on October 30 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Lucky Danger, 709 D Street NW, for a Halloween edition, with tickets at 20 to 25 dollars. DJ Les plays an all-night set on vinyl spanning city pop, Japanese funk, Cantonese Hi-NRG, Original Pilipino Music, Korean funk-pop, disco, new wave and dancefloor sounds from across Asia and the Asian diaspora, from the 1970s to today. Attendees are encouraged to dress as a favorite city pop record-cover figure, 1980s pop idol, disco superstar or new wave icon, with a costume contest hosted by Carolyn.
The night also features the SAMASAMA market with local artists and makers, a pop-up record shop, tarot and oracle readings, and 1980s and vintage vendors, powered by Extended Play DC's sound system. The venue is near the Archives–Navy Memorial–Penn Quarter station, a short walk from the Chinatown arch, making the Halloween edition a gathering point for the district's Chinese community and Asian American young people.
