New Mexico Man Gets Maximum 3-Year Sentence for Soliciting 14-Year-Old Decoy in 'Game Over' Undercover Operation

The New Mexico Department of Justice announced on October 28 that Christopher Purtee, arrested in May during the multi-agency, four-day undercover operation 'Operation Game Over,' has been sentenced by a Second Judicial District Court judge to the maximum sentence of three years in prison.
Purtee was caught in a sexually explicit online chat with a decoy account identifying as a 14-year-old boy. After confirming the decoy's age as 14, Purtee sent photos of himself, including his genitals, and discussed possessing condoms and other sexual paraphernalia, according to the department.
After graphically describing sexual acts they would engage in, Purtee said he would pick up lubricant and meet the decoy at the agreed address. When he arrived at the door, he was apprehended by law enforcement and charged with child solicitation by electronic communication device.
In addition to serving three years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections, Purtee will be placed on 5 to 20 years of sex offender parole and will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years upon his release.
The operation was conducted jointly by New Mexico Department of Justice undercover agents, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, the Albuquerque Police Department and the Santa Fe Police Department, which collaborated on undercover chats, surveillance and the takedowns that followed.
