HII Q3 Revenue Hits Record $3.5 Billion with $32.4 Billion in New Awards; Shipbuilding Revenue Guidance Raised

HII (Huntington Ingalls Industries), the largest U.S. military shipbuilder, reported fiscal third-quarter 2026 results on October 29 in Newport News, Virginia. Revenues were a third-quarter record $3.537 billion, up 10.8% year over year. Net earnings were $217 million, or $5.48 diluted earnings per share, up from $145 million and $3.68 a year earlier.
Operating income rose to $246 million with a 7.0% operating margin, from $161 million and 5.0% a year earlier, and segment operating income was $262 million at a 7.4% margin. Operating cash flow was $520 million and free cash flow was $429 million, versus $118 million and $16 million in the prior-year quarter. Newport News Shipbuilding revenue rose 18.1% to $1.910 billion, Ingalls Shipbuilding revenue rose 5.8% to $876 million, and Mission Technologies revenue was $792 million.
New contract awards totaled $32.4 billion in the quarter and $43.1 billion year to date. HII said the awards have secured approximately 90% of its expected shipbuilding revenue through 2030. During the quarter Newport News received construction contracts for Block VI Virginia-class and Build II Columbia-class submarines and achieved preliminary acceptance of the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy, while Ingalls christened the guided missile destroyer George M. Neal.
HII raised its fiscal 2026 shipbuilding revenue guidance to between $10.5 billion and $10.7 billion, reaffirmed shipbuilding operating margin guidance of 6.0% to 6.5% and reaffirmed its free cash flow outlook of $500 million to $600 million. President and CEO Chris Kastner said performance was solid across all three segments, that the quarter's significant awards give the company visibility on shipbuilding revenue through 2030, and that Mission Technologies won landmark maritime autonomy awards for the Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel and the Lionfish small unmanned undersea vehicle.
