Lilly Third-Quarter Revenue Rises 39% to $24.4 Billion as Mounjaro Sales Jump 65% to $10.7 Billion and Full-Year Revenue Guidance Is Raised to $91-92 Billion

Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced third-quarter 2026 results on October 29 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Revenue rose 39% to $24.4 billion ($24.397 billion), driven primarily by diabetes drug Mounjaro and weight-loss drug Zepbound, and the company raised the midpoint of its full-year 2026 revenue guidance by $5.5 billion to a range of $91.0 billion to $92.0 billion.
Reported net income was $6.451 billion, or $7.22 per share, up 16%, while non-GAAP net income was $6.679 billion, or $7.48 per share, up 7%. Both reported and non-GAAP EPS included $4.57 per share of acquired in-process research and development (IPR&D) charges, compared with $0.71 in the third quarter of 2025; the charges, totaling about $4.2 billion, primarily related to the acquisitions of AtaiBeckley Inc. and Curevo Inc.
Mounjaro's worldwide revenue increased 65% to $10.723 billion, with U.S. revenue up 41% to $5.0 billion and revenue outside the U.S. up 93% to $5.7 billion. U.S. Zepbound revenue increased 48% to $5.352 billion. Worldwide volume grew 53%, partially offset by a 15% decrease in realized prices. Third-quarter revenue also included approximately $900 million of benefits, primarily $410 million of sales-based milestone payments for diabetes drug Jardiance under the company's collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim, which Lilly said are the last milestones it expects to receive.
For the full year, Lilly raised its revenue guidance to $91.0 billion to $92.0 billion and raised underlying non-GAAP EPS guidance by $4.07 at the midpoint, which was more than offset by the $4.57 of acquired IPR&D charges from third-quarter business development activity, resulting in an updated non-GAAP EPS range of $35.00 to $36.00.
On the regulatory front, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Mounjaro to reduce cardiovascular risk in adults with type 2 diabetes, Onswik, a once-weekly basal insulin for adults with type 2 diabetes, Inluriyo in combination with Verzenio for certain adults with advanced or metastatic breast cancer, and an expanded indication for Jaypirca in adults with untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma. Pipeline highlights included positive topline results from a head-to-head Phase 3 trial of retatrutide versus Ozempic 2 mg in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Chair and CEO David A. Ricks said Lilly had another strong quarter, exceeding prior expectations and allowing the company to raise its full-year outlook, with revenue growth driven by broad global demand for Mounjaro and Zepbound, the global launches of Foundayo, expanded U.S. coverage for obesity care, and a doubling in its newest products in oncology, immunology and neuroscience. Lilly completed the acquisition of AtaiBeckley during the quarter and, after quarter end, completed the acquisition of Merida Biosciences.
