CPSC Recalls About 338,800 DREO Space Heaters: DR-HSH015 Can Overheat and Ignite, with 17 Ignition Reports; Free Replacement Offered

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · Life · GSM News

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on October 29 that DREO is recalling about 338,800 DR-HSH015 space heaters in the United States, with about 36,300 more sold in Canada. The heaters can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards; consumers should stop using them immediately and contact DREO for a free replacement heater.

DREO has received 17 reports of the space heaters igniting, three resulting in property damage and one in a burn injury to the hand, the CPSC said. The recall was among more than a dozen recalls and safety warnings the commission posted the same day, and by unit count it ranked behind only the same-day Bodum French press coffee maker recall of about 5.9 million units.

To obtain the remedy, consumers should unplug the heater, destroy it by cutting the electrical cord and follow DREO's instructions to send a photo of the destroyed heater. Consumers can use the DREO recall page or the company's recall e-mail address, or call the CPSC consumer hotline at 800-638-2772.

The CPSC is the federal agency charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury associated with consumer products, and federal law prohibits selling or giving away a recalled product. Anyone who owns a DREO heater should check the model number for DR-HSH015 before using it again.
