Three Convicted Felons in Alexandria, Louisiana Sentenced on Federal Firearms Charges: Up to 63 Months in Prison

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana announced that three convicted felons in Alexandria, Louisiana, were sentenced on federal firearms and ammunition charges. On October 23, 2026, U.S. District Judge Jerry Edwards Jr. sentenced Robert Taylor, 32, to 63 months in federal prison, Kevin Guthrie Jr., 42, to 46 months, and Qwadarius L. Guthrie, 26, to 46 months, each followed by two years of supervised release. All three had pleaded guilty in the summer of 2026.
Taylor's case began with a November 2025 shooting in which a victim and a witness identified him as the shooter. Alexandria Police Department officers arrested him the next day and recovered a Taurus G3 9mm pistol from his pocket. Taylor had prior felony convictions for burglary and battery and admitted he knew it was illegal for him to possess a firearm.
In Kevin Guthrie Jr.'s case, Louisiana Probation and Parole officers conducting a home visit on October 14, 2025, found a drum magazine loaded with sixty rounds of 5.56 ammunition, two Glock .40-caliber magazines loaded with twelve rounds each, and seventeen rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition in his bedroom. He was on probation for a prior felony and was prohibited from possessing ammunition.
In Qwadarius L. Guthrie's case, an officer encountered him in a vehicle near a business on October 14, 2025, and, after a consent search, found a Smith & Wesson pistol and marijuana in the trunk. He admitted both were his and acknowledged prior felony convictions including aggravated second-degree battery.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) investigated all three cases with assistance from the Alexandria Police Department, as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods. U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller made the announcement.
