CPSC Recalls About 4,726 NTI and HTP Gas Boilers: Condensate Dish Can Crack and Front Cover Can Detach, with 34 Reports Including a Technician's Broken Jaw; Free Repair

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · Life · GSM News

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on October 29 that about 4,726 NTI and HTP brand gas boilers are being recalled in the United States, with about 2,261 more sold in Canada. The boilers were manufactured by Ariston, formerly NTI Boilers.

The hazard involves the condensate dish inside the boiler, which can crack during a delayed ignition, allowing unburned gas to build up inside the sealed cabinet. If the gas ignites, the front cover can suddenly detach, posing risks of serious injury or death from fire, carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and impact hazards.

The firm has received 34 reported incidents of the condensate dish breaking, including three reports of the front cover detaching from the boiler. In one reported incident, a technician servicing the boiler sustained a broken jaw.

Consumers should stop using the recalled boilers immediately and contact Ariston to schedule a free repair by a certified technician. Consumers who must continue using the boiler while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes. Details are on the NTI boilers safety recall page, by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 800-688-2575; the CPSC consumer hotline is 800-638-2772.

The CPSC is the federal agency charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury associated with consumer products, and federal law prohibits selling a recalled product. Households with an NTI or HTP brand gas boiler should check whether their unit is covered before using it again.
