Cincinnati, Ohio: ICE Employee Saxon Sentenced to 21 Months for Lying to Federal Agents About Abusing His Girlfriend

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio announced that Samuel Saxon, 47, of Cincinnati, in Hamilton County, Ohio, was sentenced in U.S. District Court on October 29 to 21 months in prison for lying to federal agents about violently abusing his significant other.
According to court documents, in September 2025, the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General (DHS-OIG) opened an investigation into Saxon after receiving allegations that he had physically abused and threatened to kill his girlfriend. The investigation revealed years of escalating violence, including repeated death threats and strangulation. Between June 2024 and December 2025, Cincinnati police officers responded to Saxon's residence approximately two dozen times for reports relating to possible domestic violence. At the time of these incidents, Saxon was employed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and had worked for the agency since 2005.
Saxon was arrested by local police officers in December 2025 after a neighbor witnessed Saxon abusing the victim. Saxon then lied to a federal agent about the attack. Additionally, Saxon did not report his contacts with police to ICE, which is DHS policy. Evidence presented at sentencing showed that he also commonly failed to report for duty, or showed up late and then left early, and submitted false timesheets claiming full-time, in-person work.
Saxon was charged federally in December 2025 and pleaded guilty in March 2026 to making false statements to federal officers. Dominick S. Gerace II, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, announced the sentence imposed by U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. McFarland. The DHS-OIG and the Cincinnati Police Department investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley N. Brucato and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie D. Garcia are representing the United States.
