Ohio Fugitive Andre Jordan Sentenced to 300 Months for Firing at Federal Officers from Springfield Hotel Room

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · Justice · GSM News

DAYTON, Ohio — Andre Jordan II, 35, of Reynoldsburg, in Franklin County, Ohio, was sentenced on October 29 to 300 months (25 years) in federal prison for the attempted murder of federal law enforcement officers, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio announced. U.S. District Judge Michael J. Newman imposed the sentence.

At the time of the shooting, Jordan was a fugitive with an active arrest warrant out of Franklin County for aggravated murder. Prosecutors say that murder took place outside a Columbus bar earlier the same month, in August 2025.

According to court documents, the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), a federal task force, tracked Jordan to a room at the Quality Inn in Springfield. After officers announced their presence, Jordan looked out of the window and fired a shot toward the pool area, in the vicinity of officers and federal agents, who retreated to take cover. He then fired a round through the middle of the hotel room door into the hallway, where federal agents had been standing just moments before.

Three young children and two other adults were in the room with Jordan when he opened fire. Hotel surveillance video shows the adults and children fleeing the room before Jordan fired at least eight additional rounds through the connecting doors to the adjacent hotel room, in the direction where officers had previously been positioned in the hallway. In total, he discharged his firearm at least 11 times.

The Springfield Police Division SWAT Team responded, and after several hours of hostage negotiation Jordan surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody. No one was struck. Jordan was charged federally in August 2025 and pleaded guilty in April 2026.

“When he opened fire, Jordan showed a complete lack of regard for the lives of federal law enforcement officers and the occupants of the hotel—including those in his very own room,” said U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II. He said Jordan's actions, coupled with the fact that he was a fugitive charged in a murder, make clear that he poses a significant threat to public safety and should remain in custody for a significant period of time. FBI Cincinnati Division, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Springfield and Columbus police departments joined in the announcement.
