Little Rock Armed Career Criminal Tashaun Yancy Sentenced to 210 Months After Livestream Shooting Video

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas announced that Tashaun Yancy, 42, of Little Rock, in Pulaski County, Arkansas, will spend the next 210 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, followed by five years of supervised release. U.S. Attorney Jonathan D. Ross announced the sentence, handed down on October 29 by U.S. District Judge James M. Moody, Jr. There is no parole in the federal system.
A federal grand jury indicted Yancy on October 7, 2025, on a one-count indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty on June 3, 2026.
The case began with a livestream. On April 7, 2025, Little Rock Police Department detectives observed Yancy — who was out on bond in four separate felony cases — shooting a firearm on a live video stream through a social media platform. In the video he identified himself by his street name, “TY,” and described the black and gold firearm he shot multiple times as a Canik 9 mm firearm.
On June 4, 2025, detectives obtained a search warrant for Yancy's residence and found a black and gold Canik Model METE SFX 9 mm firearm loaded with approximately 17 rounds of ammunition. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Yancy admitted he knew he was a convicted felon who could not possess a firearm, and admitted the gun was the same one he had fired in the live video, on land owned by the family of his roommates.
Because of his violent criminal history, Yancy is classified as an armed career criminal. His record includes commercial burglary, theft of property, manufacture, delivery and possession of cocaine, robbery, possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession with purpose to deliver methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, forgery, and theft by receiving. He also has a pending capital murder charge in Little Rock.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with assistance from the Little Rock Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Reese Lancaster prosecuted the case, which is part of the Justice Department's Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative.
