Tallahassee Masked Gunman Laquinton Harris Sentenced to 108 Months for Z Mart Robbery

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida announced that Laquinton Harris, 36, of Tallahassee, in Leon County, Florida, was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for Hobbs Act robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted Felon. He will serve five years of supervised release after prison and was ordered to pay $547 in restitution to the Z Mart. U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin announced the sentence.
Court records showed a masked gunman robbed the Z Mart convenience store at 4015 Fred George Road on January 30, 2026, and discharged his firearm into the floor. Leon County Sheriff's Office deputies found an apparent bullet strike on the wooden flooring and a spent .22 caliber shell casing.
On April 2, 2026, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a federal search warrant at Harris's residence and found a .22 caliber rifle, which ballistic testing showed matched the shell casing found in the Z Mart. Agents also found distinctive ripped pants and gloves matching those worn by the robber, and Harris's DNA was found on both items.
The 108-month sentence was structured as 24 months for the Hobbs Act robbery and felon-in-possession counts, followed by a consecutive 84 months for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
U.S. Attorney Heekin said the violent criminal tried to hide behind a mask to get away with armed robbery and will now spend his days behind federal bars, and he credited the Leon County Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and ATF for the investigation. The case was investigated by ATF and the Leon County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James A. McCain as part of the Justice Department's Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative.
