Hong Kong Shenzhen Bay Port: Clearance Extended to 2 A.M. for Two Halloween Weekend Nights With Special Overnight Buses

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · World News · GSM News

The Hong Kong SAR Government announced on October 29 that, in view of the expected surge in cross-boundary travel over the Halloween weekend, when the Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival and major concerts will also be held, clearance services for travellers and private cars at the Shenzhen Bay Port will be extended to 2 a.m. on the nights of Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, with special overnight bus services arranged.

The Government said that, as several large-scale events are expected to end around midnight, the period from about 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. each night this weekend is expected to be the busiest for northbound passenger and vehicle traffic at the Huanggang Port, and traffic at the port and around San Tin Highway will be very heavy.

To divert late-night cross-boundary flows and ease pressure on the Huanggang Port and nearby roads, the SAR Government reached a consensus with the relevant Shenzhen authorities to extend the closing time of traveller and private car clearance at the Shenzhen Bay Port by two hours, from midnight to 2 a.m., on both nights.

On transport support, cross-boundary bus operators have been co-ordinated to extend northbound services using the Shenzhen Bay Port. Franchised bus operators will run two special overnight routes, NB2 and NB3, during the small hours, serving Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai, and Tuen Mun respectively, to and from the Shenzhen Bay Port.

Residents and visitors can check average waiting times and live traffic snapshots for travellers and private cars at land boundary control points through the Security Bureau's one-stop clearance information platform and the Transport Department's HKeMobility app, so as to plan their journeys in advance.
