My Chemical Romance's 'The Black Parade' Eyes Its First Billboard 200 No. 1, 20 Years On, With Anniversary Reissue

My Chemical Romance's 2006 masterwork 'The Black Parade' could reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the first time next week, powered by the 20th anniversary deluxe reissue released on October 23, according to Billboard.

The album debuted and peaked at No. 2 on its original release in 2006, selling 240,000 first-week copies but stuck behind the 'Hannah Montana' soundtrack's 281,000. The band has never had a No. 1 album: 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge' peaked at No. 6 and 'Danger Days' at No. 8.

The anniversary edition adds six bonus cuts — three era B-sides and three live tracks — to the original 14 songs, and its physical reissue spans as many as 15 vinyl variants plus multiple CD and cassette editions, mobilizing the band's still-active fanbase. The set sits at No. 139 on this week's Billboard 200, in its 161st week on the chart.

Billboard notes that competition from new releases is minimal, so the album's main obstacle is the current chart-topper by Olivia Rodrigo — herself a fan of the band, who this week shared a clip of its Citi Field performance on social media.

The band is currently on its Long Live The Black Parade tour, which closes its U.S. run with two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles this weekend.
