Chicago Chinese Times Publishes Halloween Scary-Yard Tour Guide on Oct. 29 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois: Front Yards Across Chicagoland Counties Become Horror-Themed Attractions

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · Life · GSM News

As Halloween approaches, the Chicagoland area's annual tour of Halloween yard displays has again become a community topic. A guide published by the Chicago Chinese Times on October 29, drawing on Patch's 2026 guide to the best Halloween yard displays in the greater Chicago area, rounded up this year's creative efforts by residents who turned their front yards into themed attractions — from zombie graveyards and floating ghosts to large inflatable installations — drawing visitors and local families who drive out to see them. The guide is organized by county, covering DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will, Kendall and Grundy counties, among others, to help residents plan driving routes. One highlight is "Pumpkin Riot: Harvest Hallows" at 1702 Whispering Oaks Drive in Plainfield, known for its lighting and pumpkin-themed displays. Other stops include the "Hayride of Horror" and "Curse of the Bayou" at Dellwood Park in Lockport, the "Basement of the Dead" in Aurora, the "Massacre Haunted House" in Montgomery, and the "House of Chaos" (Disturbia) in Downers Grove, offering a range of ticket options and new themes.
