Thursday, October 29, 2026 · World · GSM News

More than 80 women completed a women's empowerment training programme at the Agaseke Centre in Kigali, Rwanda, at a graduation ceremony on October 28 attended by Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Gao Wenqi, Kigali Vice Mayor Urujeni Martine and Monique Huss, deputy executive administrator of Kicukiro District.

The training covered business ideas, weaving skills and women's rights, with the aim of improving the trainees' employability and income. The Agaseke Centre was initiated by the City of Kigali to promote traditional Rwandan culture and support vulnerable groups.

The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda has supported skills training at the centre for three consecutive years, benefiting 125 young women in total. Urujeni said most of the trainees come from vulnerable communities around the centre and that the training has effectively improved their family livelihoods.
