Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City Chinese Business Community: Vietnam-China Seminar Focuses on Production, Logistics and Global Value Chains

Chinese businesspeople operating in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City joined Vietnamese officials and business representatives at the Vietnam-China Business Seminar on October 29, held under the theme "Connecting production, logistics and global value chains." Nguyễn Lộc Hà, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, told the seminar that China is Vietnam's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade of approximately USD 256.4 billion in 2025.
Nguyễn Lộc Hà said the enlarged Ho Chi Minh City, following its 2025 merger with Bình Dương and Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu, covers more than 6,772 square kilometres with a population of over 14 million, functioning as a financial, commercial and service centre linked with industrial and high-tech centres and deep-water seaports. He set out three cooperation priorities: strengthening production links and supplier capacity so Vietnamese firms can enter higher value-added stages; improving seaport, transport and logistics connectivity, including smart and green logistics; and promoting innovation, technology transfer and links among government, businesses, research institutes and universities.
Yang Wen Bin, Acting Chairman of the Chinese Business Association in Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City Chapter, proposed deeper manufacturing cooperation in advanced manufacturing, electronics, information technology, green energy and supporting industries; stronger road, waterway and rail connectivity, smart border gates, supply-chain digitalisation and customs efficiency; and stronger cooperation on ESG, green transition and low-carbon production.
Lê Trường Duy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR), described value chains as interconnected ecosystems of suppliers, factories, logistics infrastructure, ports, management technology and consumer markets. Jesse Choi, CEO of Sunwah Group in Southeast Asia and CEO of Sunwah Innovations, said Sunwah was ready to support business connections and China-Vietnam economic, trade and investment cooperation.
The seminar was a side event of the 2026 Autumn Economic Forum, organised by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and C4IR in coordination with the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter of the China Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam.
