San Diego County, California: County Issues Halloween Weekend Rain Readiness Reminder as a Stronger Storm May Arrive Saturday Night

Friday, October 30, 2026 · California · GSM News

San Diego County, California, issued a rain readiness reminder on October 29. According to the National Weather Service, coastal areas of the county may see light rain from Thursday night into Friday, and a stronger storm system may arrive Saturday night into Sunday morning with more significant rainfall. Families heading out for Halloween weekend trick-or-treating should keep an eye on the weather.

The county listed three preparation steps: register a phone number and email with AlertSanDiego to receive county emergency alerts; prepare an emergency kit with drinking water, a flashlight, medications and copies of important documents; and check address-specific risk information and updates at AlertSanDiego.org.

Officials also reminded drivers that wet roads and reduced visibility call for slower speeds and greater following distance, and warned against driving through flooded roadways. Residents in low-lying areas and near creeks should clear leaves and debris from drainage inlets ahead of the rain.

San Diego County has already faced several coastal flood advisories this fall from the combination of king tides and storms. County emergency officials said they will keep monitoring the weekend storm's track and intensity and will issue further updates if needed.
