Fontana, California: City's Downtown Economic Incentive Program Receives $700,000 in San Bernardino County District Priority Funds

Friday, October 30, 2026 · City · GSM News

The downtown economic incentive program of the City of Fontana, in San Bernardino County, California, will receive $700,000 in county funding. The allocation was itemized in a package of district priority project funds approved by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors on October 20, drawn from the district priority allocation of Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez.

The package totals roughly $1.8 million for community projects across San Bernardino County. The county said district priority funds are proposed by each supervisor and approved by the full board to support fast-moving municipal and community improvements within each district.

Fontana is the second most populous city in San Bernardino County, and its downtown has been undergoing continued commercial renewal and streetscape work. Downtown economic incentives are typically used to offset part of the cost of new business openings, storefront renovations and small development projects in order to attract matching private investment.

County documents describe the funding as a one-time allocation; the specific disbursement conditions and schedule will be worked out between the county and the City of Fontana.
