Ukraine: Russian Drone Strike on Dnipro Railway Station Kills at Least 13 Civilians

UN News reported on October 29 that a Russian drone struck the main railway station in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, killing at least 13 civilians and injuring 10. The train that was hit was bound for Zaporizhzhia.
Matthias Schmale, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine, condemned the attack, saying civilians and civilian infrastructure are not targets and calling an attack on a busy railway station at peak travel time "heinous".
An 11-year-old boy was among the injured. Ukraine's state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia says attacks on rail facilities have risen from 1,206 in 2025 to 1,700 so far in 2026, though they rarely cause civilian casualties on this scale.
Separately, OCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke confirmed that a local ceasefire has taken hold in the occupied town of Oleshky in Kherson region, pausing hostilities around schools, hospitals and municipal centres. The pause was brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump and announced by the White House on October 23. It is due to end on the evening of November 1; the UN hopes 200 to 300 people may evacuate, while more than 1,000 people remain.
