Sudan: Drone Attack on Market in Nyala, Darfur, Kills Five Children
UNICEF said a drone attack on a market in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur in Sudan, on Monday killed five children and injured two others.
The children killed were three boys and two girls aged between 7 and 14. Etleva Kadilli, UNICEF's Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, said the escalating violence against children is "completely unacceptable and must stop".
A week earlier, drone strikes on a market in Abyei reportedly killed at least 80 people, including women and children.
According to UNICEF, more than 400 children have been killed or injured in Sudan between January and September 2026.
