Da Xi Hui Weekend Culture Day Halloween Special: Stand-Up Comedy Show on October 31 in San Gabriel, with a Costume Ball the Same Evening
San Gabriel, in Los Angeles County, California, is set for a Halloween night of comedy: the Da Xi Hui "Weekend Culture Day" Halloween special, presented by the Da Xi Drama and Film Society together with the Los Angeles Taishan Culture and Sports Association, will stage a stand-up comedy show on Saturday, October 31, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the banquet hall of the San Gabriel Hilton, followed by a Halloween costume ball at the same venue from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.
Billed as the first edition sponsored by Xin Energy, the comedy show features original stand-up, bilingual Chinese-English comedy and duo acts, ranging from solo sets to two-person sketches. According to the organizers' poster, the performers draw on everyday mishaps and culture clashes, inviting the audience to look at life from a different angle.
After the comedy show, the Halloween costume ball runs from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. in the Hilton banquet hall. The hotel is located at 225 W Valley Blvd, San Gabriel, CA 91776. This is a ticketed event; ticket prices and how to buy tickets are as announced by the organizers.
The organizers also note that Da Xi Hui's regular Saturday daytime programs—the tea gathering, Chinese classics reading and film exchange—will pause for this week and resume the following week.
