Los Angeles County Seeks 2027–28 Civil Grand Jury Applicants: Deadline Nov. 1, $80 Per Day

The Los Angeles County Superior Court is accepting applications for the 2027–28 Civil Grand Jury, with a deadline of Sunday, November 1. The City of Diamond Bar relayed the recruitment notice to residents in its October 30 weekly bulletin.
The 23-member panel, plus a pool of alternates, serves a one-year term from July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028, examining whether County, City and joint powers agencies operate efficiently and manage taxpayer money appropriately; it also investigates residents' complaints and inspects public jails. Service is a full-time, in-person commitment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays in downtown Los Angeles. Jurors receive $80 per day plus mileage; employers are not required to provide time off or pay wages, and employed applicants must include a letter from their employer confirming availability.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, proficient in English, and Los Angeles County residents for at least one year. Elected officials, anyone convicted of a felony, and those who have served on a civil grand jury within the past 12 months are ineligible. Court officials will interview applicants through December, and qualified applicants will be entered into a random drawing tentatively scheduled for May 19, 2027. Completed applications should be emailed as PDFs to [email protected].
