Boulder Pearl Street Firebombing Defendant Soliman Pleads Guilty in Federal Court on Oct. 29 to 12 Counts Including Hate Crimes; Sentencing Set for Jan. 7

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the defendant in the Pearl Street Mall firebombing attack in Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado, pleaded guilty in federal court on October 29 to 12 federal counts, including hate crimes, according to the Associated Press and the Colorado Sun. Soliman, 46, had earlier sought the death penalty for himself, but federal prosecutors are seeking life in prison plus 50 years; federal sentencing is set for January 7.
Police say Soliman used a homemade flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to attack people taking part in the weekly 'Run for Their Lives' walk on the Pearl Street Mall, held to draw attention to the Israeli hostages taken by Hamas on October 7, 2023. The June 1, 2025, attack injured more than a dozen people, and 82-year-old Karen Diamond later died of her injuries.
