Seat capacity at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will drop sharply in November following the shutdown of Spirit Airlines, making it one of the six most affected airports in the country. According to flight-data analysis released October 29, after Spirit ceased operations on May 2, 2026, U.S. domestic flight seats for November fell by a net 2.29 million nationwide; New Orleans lost a net 53,807 November seats, a 7.4% decline ranking second among the six hardest-hit airports, behind only Newark.

Spirit was historically New Orleans's fifth-largest airline, with nearly one million seats a year, behind Southwest, Delta, American and United. The analysis also noted that the average Thanksgiving domestic round-trip fare has reached $402.
