Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Judge Marianne Hemmeter sentenced Columbus truck driver Modou Ngom on October 29 to 22.5 years in prison, the maximum allowed by law. Ngom, 51, was convicted by a Delaware County jury on September 25 of three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and five counts of vehicular assault.

The crash occurred on April 11, when Ngom, driving a tractor-trailer in a construction zone on northbound Interstate 71, failed to stop for backed-up traffic and triggered a chain-reaction collision. Veterinarian Linnea Soboski, her husband Luke Soboski and their one-year-old son Logan were killed when the family's vehicle caught fire, and five other people were seriously injured. The Soboski family lived in Ashley, Delaware County, and Linnea practiced at Muirfield Animal Hospital in Dublin.
