Las Vegas Could See First Measurable Halloween Rain Since 1987, Forecasters Say Plans Can Stay

The National Weather Service office in Las Vegas forecast on October 30 that the Las Vegas Valley could see its first measurable Halloween rain since 1987 on Saturday, though showers should be spotty and light enough not to disrupt trick-or-treating.
On Halloween 1987 the valley recorded 0.25 inches of rain, and no measurable rain has fallen on the holiday since. Meteorologist Brayden Murdoch said Saturday will be cloudy with breezy moments, and the valley may not match the 1987 quarter inch, though some areas could get a little wet. Clouds moved in Friday morning and are expected to last through the weekend; county rain gauges in the Henderson area recorded up to 0.20 inches Friday morning.
Weekend highs are forecast in the 70s Fahrenheit with lows just below 60. The Weather Service advised families heading out on Halloween night to bring a poncho or umbrella, but said there is no need to change plans.
