Brothers Sentenced to a Combined 366 Months for $8 Million Armed Cryptocurrency Kidnapping in Minnesota

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota announced that brothers Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia were sentenced on October 29 in federal court in St. Paul, Minnesota, to 180 months and 186 months in prison respectively — 366 months combined.
Both men pleaded guilty on June 18, 2026, in connection with the September 19, 2025 armed kidnapping of a family in Grant, Minnesota, and the robbery of their cryptocurrency. According to court documents, the brothers traveled from Texas to Minnesota, held the family at gunpoint for more than nine hours and ultimately compelled the victim to transfer more than $8 million in cryptocurrency. After the victim's son called 911, the brothers fled and were later arrested near Houston, Texas.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Washington County Sheriff's Office and heard by U.S. District Judge Donovan W. Frank. (Note: the Justice Department corrected the combined total to 366 months in an October 30 update to its release.)
