Trump Cancels Weekend Rallies in Kansas and Iowa, Will Phone In to Tele-Rallies Instead

Friday, October 30, 2026 · White House · GSM News

President Donald Trump on Thursday, October 29, canceled planned weekend campaign stops in Salina, Kansas, and Dubuque, Iowa, according to Reuters. The Republican National Committee (RNC) said in a statement later on Thursday that it would also cancel the planned rally in Iowa, and MAGA Inc, a campaign funding group aligned with Trump, said it would host a series of tele-rallies with the president in at least 19 states, including Kansas and Iowa, before Election Day.

The canceled in-person rallies were set for Salina on Saturday, October 31, and Dubuque on Sunday, November 1. Trump told reporters he did not "feel like I have to go to Kansas," saying Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who faces Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton in an unexpectedly competitive race, is doing very well. "We are going to have a strong Tuesday night," Trump said. Iowa is home to several competitive congressional races.

Since October 1, Trump has hosted 25 rallies in 19 states, often speaking for his party in rural areas of Republican-friendly states. Tuesday's midterm elections, on November 3, will determine whether Republicans retain their narrow control of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. The president is still expected to travel to rallies in several states before Tuesday, including in Florida on Friday, October 30.

Trump has noted that his recent series of more than hour-long campaign speeches has been challenging. Sounding hoarse in Mississippi on Monday, October 26, he said, "God didn't make your vocal cords to do a rally every day." On Thursday, after campaigning for Senator Darline Graham in South Carolina, he ridiculed a Reuters reporter who asked how he felt after weeks of rallies and whether he was sick of traveling. "You've been following me for two weeks," Trump said before boarding his motorcade back to the White House. "I feel perfect."
